As a visionary in its industry, SBLI chose recently to break new ground when it refocused its mission on national growth. As a leading New York life insurance provider for over 60 years, SBLI decided it would expand into the national market by selling direct to consumers through the mail, phone, and Internet.

But at the time, SBLI was using traditional systems that could not fully harness the potential of this change. This is when SBLI turned to its long-term technology partner, Chatham Systems Group. Chatham Systems was chosen over the "Big 5" consulting firms because of the company's knowledge and experience with the SBLI organization.

Chatham Systems performed a thorough analysis of SBLI's systems, and found a multiplicity of successful departments—each using its own system for controlling operations, with no integration between these systems. The company was unable to understand the value that the different channels provided, how many leads were being generated in response to various marketing efforts, how many policies were pending, and how many were due for renewal. This made it difficult for SBLI to fully understand its overall performance, and created inefficiencies in productivity, both of which impacted profitability.

Chatham Systems recommended the E.piphany Analytic Platform to help SBLI integrate its existing systems and establish a better reporting strategy.
